I’m watching the election results as I work on this month’s blog. I’m sure glad the election is almost over, although I have found the debates entertaining and the SNL satire has been great!
It has been was really fun to be part of this year's city-wide All Soul's Night festivities. I took our display down yesterday and we will begin working on our Christmas window displays soon. Lincoln Park is sponsoring a window display contest again this year and we are excited to participate!
We started stocking the store with some new merchandise last week and will continue adding new lines over the coming months. We have a great selection of 500- and 1000-piece Springbok puzzles. Springbok is famous for manufacturing high quality puzzles that feature beautiful pictures and designs.
We also just received a nice selection of "Warmies" plush animals. These lavender scented, soft and cuddly animals can be warmed in the microwave and used as a heating pad or a snuggly warm friend! Who wouldn't like to snuggle up with Warmie a cold winter night?
Speaking about warmth! It got up to almost 70 degrees today and it sounds like the rest of the week will be warm too!
We hope you do some of your Holiday shopping in Lincoln Park shops this year. You're sure to find something special and unique and it should be festive and fun with all of the lighting and window displays.
Thank you to all of our customers! We appreciate your business and love getting to know you!
Boathouse Treats & Treasures will feature a window display in conjunction with the Duluth Community Fall Arts Festival, All Souls Night. The festival officially begins November 1, but our display and some others will be up before that date. The event has traditionally been held at the DECC, however that isn't possible this year, so the event will happen along Superior Street in Lincoln Park and Downtown Duluth.
Participating businesses will have special window displays to recognize loss and embrace what is life-giving. One of the window theme categories is "Rotten ideas". The Boathouse's window will be in this category.
The best way to experience the festival windows is by walking or driving the self-guided tour. Local artists create of the windows and present live performances during the festival. For complete details click here Duluth Community Fall Arts Festival and then follow the Facebook link.
We hope you enjoy the tour and our window! We will post pictures as soon as our window is set up.
Enjoy the beautiful weather!
I can't believe it, but we have been open for three weeks! We are already seeing repeat customers and enjoy meeting all the new ones.
Work on our mural is still underway. Today Tom began painting the ship captain. It is really fun to see Tom at work! He is an amazing artist!
Talk about a nice person! Last week my husband Mark was outside watching Tom paint. A woman pulled up and didn't have a quarter for the parking meter. Tom had a quarter and gave it to her. She said she was going to Love Creamery and asked if Mark and Tom wanted some ice cream. Neither wanted ice cream, but Mark said that I wanted to try some of the new ice cream at Wild State Cider and said he was going to get some for me. I was inside and didn't know anything about the ice cream conversation. I was working on something behind the checkout counter looked up and saw a woman with a big blueberry ice cream cone coming straight toward me. She said, "I want you to have this because your husband and Tom were so nice to me and your husband said you wanted to try it." I was so surprised! What a nice person! She not only bought me an ice cream cone, but she went out of her way to get me one from a different ice cream shop!
I really liked the ice cream. It's called Vermont-style soft serve, and it is delicious! Thank you again to the extremely nice woman who bought it for me!
Good news. The Duluth Folk School/Dovetail Cafe reopened last week!
My weekly blog will now become a monthly blog. I will try to keep on schedule and will post more frequently if needed. Please check out our Facebook page it is really fun!
Enjoy the cool weather!
After what feels like forever we are excited to finally announce our maiden voyage!

We can't wait to "set sail" this weekend!
These are the exact words my daughter told me when I said we were heading to Williston, ND for a week to get items for the shop. It may seem a bit odd to go on vacation with only a few weeks left until our grand opening...but we did just that this week. It was technically a "working" vacation to get some cool merchandise for the store, but it was still precious time away. We definitely made it worth our while and we loaded up an entire trailer with some unique items from my brother Mark's eclectic collection. Mark is a collector of all things and has accumulated quite the collection in Williston. Mark was even interviewed for a potential spot on an episode of American Pickers because he has such a unique collection. We are sure you will love to see the cool stuff we are bringing back and can't wait to show you at our grand opening. 16 days :)
Beth and Mark
After many setbacks and delays we are so excited to announce that we officially set an opening date. Please join us for our grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 8, 2020! We are planning a festive day in conjunction with Lakewood Designs grand opening. Lakewood Designs specializes in custom, reclaimed wood furniture and other wood products. More details will be posted closer to the event, so make sure to check back in early August!
We are so excited to finally open the doors of the Boathouse!
Our muralist, Tom Napoli has been working hard daily to transform the front of The Boathouse. The mural, which spans the entire front of the store front will feature a nautical theme and a boathouse surrounding the front door. We are so excited to see the finished mural in a few weeks. Stay tuned for a blog when it is finished.

Have a great week!
The dust from construction has settled and with that the store has stayed clean enough to begin stocking. A lot of cool merchandise has made its way to the shelves, including some tasty MN made treats. We are excited to support local and MN made businesses in our store. Check out this sneak peek of some of the treats that will be in store and some of the shelves that were stocked this week.
Hope you all have a fun, safe and relaxing 4th of July! We will be spending the weekend organizing, stocking and getting the store ready to open...and finding time to celebrate too!
Lainey and Ole are 2 of the 4 dogs you may see running around the shop or staring at you from the windows. They love protecting the store from squirrels, barking at delivery drivers and taking naps with their favorite toys. Now if we could only get them to do some work around here ;)
Even though it may be slow at times things are continuing to move forward around the store! This week we have secured several, local treat vendors that we are excited to feature in store and our muralist, Tom continues to make progress on the beautiful mural that will be in front of the store. Check back for a blog update on the progress of the mural in the future!
Have a great week!
We are excited to finally be on Facebook and to use this platform to share updates, sneak peeks of the store and information about our grand opening. Speaking of sneak peeks, FOX21 stopped by last week for an interview and you can see a glimpse into the store during their interview. The link is on our Facebook if you want to check it out :) Please like our Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/boathousemn.
We have also started the process of filling the store with merchandise. We started by filling the docks near the windows with some cool, summer merchandise. Check out some sneak peek pictures of the dock areas below.
If you're in the neighborhood make sure to peek in the windows and see the displays for yourself! Give us a smile and a wave if we are in the shop working. We love that we are starting to see more people out and about in Lincoln Park!
We cannot wait to have you all in store and shopping soon!
